Excellent product that is superior to even my computer's built ...
Excellent product that is superior to even my computer's built in adapter. The gain resulting from the antenna helped significantly with signal reception and made it possible for me to get consistent wifi in my room. It has occasional problems with connectivity but it's more so related to which wifi band I'm using and since my house only has 2.54 GHz wifi and I only have USB 2.0 ports, the adapter's top download speeds are around 80 Mbps in my house, which is still excellent. However, when I use the ac wireless band at around 5 GHz at locations outside of my house, I can get speeds nearing 200 Mbps even with my computer's USB 2.0 ports. This is an excellent product, and it was definitely worth more than what I paid for it. I highly recommend this product to anyone who is considering buying it.

Good performance but finicky, have to install drivers from website to get it to work at all
Edit: My new router arrived and is a vast improvement over my prior router. Out of curiosity I tried using this dongle again and it works exactly the way I wanted it to when I bought it in the first place; clearly it was my old router that was entirely the problem. Revising rating to 4. The setup is still a pain and needs better documentation about the drivers (something my new router handled well, so it's possible to do).I bought this for an older laptop that could only interact with 2.4ghz wireless signals and my router only had 5ghz. I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 because it did eventually work, but even now it will periodically turn itself off - or at least drop the connection - so I have to run the builtin troubleshooter to reset it and restore the connection. Some days it's worse than others and it won't stay connected. Most of the time it will have one or two hiccups and then work fine.It came with an installation CD which I ran successfully, but it wasn't able to connect. I had to go read a lot of other reviews and support before I found someone saying you need to get manufacturer driver updates from the website before it would work, and once I did that it did work most of the time. As noted above, however, it isn't a reliable connection.I wouldn't even bother to review really but I am annoyed by the poor support and lousy capabilities of this device. I bought this hoping I could avoid buying a new router and that didn't work out for me. If you need a quick fix for a short period of time, this will do the job, but don't expect it to be a long term solution.

No Optical Drive? Not easy to set up. Also stops working after 8 months
Very difficult to set up if you don't have a optical drive. I had to go on their website find the correct drivers and figure out which file in the zipdrive they give you works with no instructions. Does work well when everything is updated. They really should just have a download wizard without all the silly zipdrives on their website.Update: originally purchased January 24th 2018 basically stopped working August 25th 2018. Zero driver support and now the WiFi repeatedly loses connection even though my other devices stay connected. I’ve been fighting with this adapter for over an hour today and about to throw it out into the road because it’s garbage.

Great Speed
I tested the Wireless Adapter with a desktop system I have in my upstairs office. While my desktop computer is perfect as it is with all the specs I wanted, it's not standard for a desktop computer to have a wireless card built-in. This adapter has allowed me to connect that desktop to my router and network wirelessly, without the need to string Ethernet cable all over the house, which can be a real pain. This adapter would also work great with a notebook if I wanted to upgrade the connectivity to AC1750 speeds. The adapter is very thin and could be left in the computer all the time, barely sticks out.The system I used this adapter with is running Windows 10t and install and set up were really easy and simple. The package includes the drivers necessary for the adapter, and they can also be found on the manufacturer website as a download, if necessary.I have found the performance of this Wi-Fi adapter to be pretty good. My setup has a few walls and a floor between the computer and router, and this adapter overcomes those obstacles quite well.Overall, I like this Wireless Adapter a lot and have found it to deliver great results. This is a very useful Wi-Fi adapter, if you have the need for it.

Can't connect to 5GHz channel 49 or higher...
I bought this to use on my MSI GE62VR gaming laptop, the internal Intel WiFi was only capable of 867Mb link. Perfectly fine for gaming but not so much for the huge 20+GB files I move around my home network. So I bought this adapter and am now able to connect at 1.3Gb (aka 1300Mb). Why three stars though? Because it can only connect to 5GHz networks at or below channel 48. Any channel above that it can't see the network in Windows 10 or Ubuntu 18.04 and manually forcing it to try to connect it just gives a failed to connect error message. Everything else in my house (two Google Home Mini, a Google Home, a Pixel XL phone, a Pixel 2 XL phone, a nVidia Shield TV, three laptops with Intel WiFi) can all connect to my home network but this adapter can't unless it is channel 48 or less.So I've had to adjust my router down to channel 48 but all the channels 48 and under have a ton of other WiFi networks on them (I'm in an apartment complex with ~10 neighbors in typical wifi range) which slows down my home wifi, thus taking away from the benefit of having this faster wifi adapter.Hopefully a firmware update is released that fixes this issue, because it works great otherwise.
